What is an EPD?

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is a standardised document that provides comparable and transparent information on the environmental impact of a product over its life cycle. EPDs are third-party verified documents. They are prepared in accordance with international standards, which increases their comparability and reliability.

EPD is based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which maps the environmental impacts of a product at all stages of its life cycle, from raw material sourcing, manufacturing, distribution and use to final disposal. Typically, the EPD includes information on the product's energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprint, water use, waste and other environmental impacts. This allows for a detailed analysis.

Why is the EPD important?

The EPD helps our customers make environmentally conscious decisions by providing accurate information on the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle.

The EPD demonstrates our commitment to measuring and reducing the environmental impact of our sawn timber products and reporting this impact in a visible, credible and transparent way. The EPD also helps us to make better choices in our operations.

Many environmental certifications and standards require an EPD for specific products or building materials.
